Learn the secrets to influencing an audience, gain the confidence you need to present in front of big groups and find out a bunch of practical tips to put together better slide decks.
About a year ago I set out to talk to singers, comedians, actors, world class presenters and psychologists to find out what made a presentation great. I've had coaching from some of the best in the business and been through a number of different courses.
All of this learning has been distilled down into a one day course that I'm running on Tuesday 25 June at the Black Box in Belfast to help a small bunch of people improve their presentation skills.
It's not just for people who want to present at conferences either. If you have to present to a group of people, either for external sales or internally, this workshop will help you too.
Best of all, you'lll be raising money for Barnardo's too as all the money from this event will be donated to their work with refugees in Northern Ireland. Read on to find out more.
Black Box Belfast
9.15am - 3.15pm
Tuesday 25 June
Act 1 - Prelude
Getting to the day of the presentation in the right frame of mind, confident that whatever you set out to do, you've prepared for it and are ready to go.
Act 2 - Slide Deck
Death By PowerPoint is one of the greatest crimes in the modern workplace. Find out how to avoid, understand why you shouldn't get hung up on the number of slides in your deck and take away some practical tools and tips to improve your work... even if you're not a designer.
Act 3 - Your Song
It's not just what you say but how you say it, and we'll look at both elements. Understanding how changing tone, speed and pitch can influence and how to use stories to keep your audience engaged.
Act 4 - Your Dance
Often overlooked in a business capacity, but how you dance around the stage is crucial to how you're being received. Learn how to stop reading the slides behind you and focus on engaging the audience. Important note: no dancing will be required as part of the workshop.
Act 5 - Tips
Practical tips to remember for when the big day happens and remembering to review what you've done and how you've managed to make progress against your objectives.
Andi hosted a discussion panel that I was part of and made the experience really easy for me. Before the event, his preparation was first class. He spoke to me about the discussion generally, sent through a clear brief and explained how everything would work. On the day, he kept the discussion moving in a natural and engaging way, which made the panel enjoyable to be on and kept the audience’s attention throughout.
Marketing Director, CDE Global
I am not at techie by any stretch of the imagination most of the time when it arises because of lack of knowledge or motivation I just switch off.
The presentation you gave yesterday was quite surprising to me in a number of ways. I actually understood most of what you and your panels were talking about! (Major plus for me) and I realised that my website (which is nothing more than a dated holding page) could potentially offer a lot more.
I possibly won’t get new clients directly from the two days but the lessons and motivation given by you will make me appreciate different communication channels a lot more. The talks and sessions have helped me change the way I think about communications and perhaps have lost some of the fears around lack of knowledge.
Thanks for a great couple of sessions.

"I found your presentation really informative and interesting, it opened my eyes to another way of approaching our social media strategy which was hugely beneficial and how we can grow and develop our online presence through a support company like yourselves. For a SME its ideal, to have an external support in that way as we continue to develop our brand."

For the workshop I'm asking for a donation of £99 per person* and every penny raised will go directly to Barnardo's.
As all of the money is going to Barnardo's, that means no lunch will be provided. We will be based right in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter, so there will be a lot of options, but please do make arrangements to bring your own food and snacks.
Importantly, drinks will be provided. You can't spend all day talking without something to drink!
As it's version 1.0 of this workshop, the group is being kept very small so places are limited - book your spot now.
*If you'd like to attend the course but the donation is beyond your means, please do get in touch in confidence - hopefully we can sort something out.
